Leaving for China Tomorrow

The last couple days have been taken up with mostly administrative and orientation activities. The weather here is brutal - it's definitely hard for a Northern girl to get used to! I've been trying to get as much sleep as possible to rest up for my two weeks in mainland China starting tomorrow.

I am very excited to leave for China tomorrow! We will go to Xian (home of the Terracotta Warriors) first, then Beijing, and finally Shanghai by train. I am excited to finally start seeing the countryside of China, as well as the major sightseeing destinations. I will be bringing my laptop, so hopefully Internet access in the hotels is good enough that I can update my blog and stay in contact with people. We shall see! I will be returning to Hong Kong on September 3, and start classes on September 7.

  1. We are excited for you Nicole...China should be fantastic. Imagine being in the 3 big cities! I would definitely love to see all three. Am sure you will take some great pictures. You are such a lucky girl.

Hey my new car is great...am finally getting used to it. Wonder how J is making out w/my old one. Haven't heard, no news is good news!

Can't imagine it being hotter there than here but it is a crowded city which maybe makes it worse.

ave fun, stay well and happy. And know Papa and I are thinking of U every step of the way.

  2. Hi Honey! Jinfeng told me today that her friends told her that it is 108 degrees in Beijing! Make sure you drink lots of (bottled) water :-)

We got Ruby inspected today, so she's ready to be put to bed for the fall. Dad's doing well with his physical therapy, and is moving to only one crutch. Justin hopes to be back playing football on Monday. Work is good (busy!) and everything else here is pretty much the same! Love you!

  3. Hi Nicole! Your pictures are awesome. I am so jealous that you are going to Xian- it looks so cool. I was just reading about it in the Smithsonian magazine. I hope you're having fun and take your Mom's advice and drink plenty of bottled water. Please look for lihi mui- I think the spelling is wrong. Its'considered a candy but looks more like a shrivelled peach pit with brown fuzz on it. I have to have some if you find it- and your Mom will want some too. Take care and be careful, love TeeTee and girls

  5. Hi Nikki,
I am really enjoying your blog. Every day I can't wait to login and read about your daily experiences. I can now put full weight on my leg and by next week I should be walking without crutches. However, I will be wearing the walking boot for 4 more weeks. Ruby passed inspection after getting some makeup (her rusty spots were filed down and painted...the color is a little off, but we told Ruby the new color is accent highlights).
P.S. It was great Skype talking with you for the past hour :)
    I LOVE YOU !!!!
